District
1-K Lions;
First of all, on behalf of the Lions of 1K we would
like to thank the Minooka Lions for making a contribution
to the District Treasury. Their club was called in Governors
Poker and neither the Club President or Secretary
was present to claim the prize. The pot rolls over.
Some Lions have asked me about ordering T-shirts. At
first I was going to bring the form to the Cabinet
Meeting. However, because of the great interest, I am
going to eliminate the middle man. In this newsletter
you will find the order form for getting your t-shirt.
If you desire, complete the form along with a check and
send it to Governor Terry. Either he or I will get your
shirt to you when it comes in.
Handshakes to VDG Wendi Burkett and Lion Melisa
Foster for agreeing to be the district’s co-chair for
Lions Quest. This is a chance for our District to
“
move to grow” in the area of youth. If you have
watched International President Ebberhart’s video, he
specifically mentions Quest as one of his areas of
focus. We have a chance to make a very positive impact
on the lives of the youth of central Illinois. Let’s
give these Lions all the support they may need in this
endeavor.
I know it is early in the Lion year, but it isn’t too
early
to start making plans to attend the 1-K District
Convention. It will be held at the Hawthorne Suites
in Bloomington. I know most of you have never
attended the Iditarod, so this year we are bringing it to
you. Yes, we will have dog races. Lion Tom Senger,
one of our finest mushers, is at this moment up in
Alaska getting the best of breed to come to Bloomington
and race for us. For those of you who feel lucky, I
am sure we can find someone to calculate the odds, so
bring your cash.
More to come regarding the convention in upcoming
newsletters.
Finally, I am interested in hearing from clubs who
have new projects or services they are bringing to their
communities. Please send in articles about your successes
to the newsletter so we can share with other
Districts the innovative spirit of 1K. Let’s practice
“
Lionism Through Team Work.” Governor Wayne
